Today I was actually at NTU for a certification exam. During lunch break, I wandered near Technology Building MRT station looking for food and unexpectedly found this incredible Vietnamese pho place!
In expensive Taipei, finding such high value-for-money restaurants is rare - especially right across from Taipei University of Education. Those students are so lucky!

Brother Nam's pho broth is excellent - not overly seasoned. You can customize it with basil, lime and chili to release that distinctive aroma.
The complimentary stewed daikon and fried tofu are also delicious.
The beef and beef balls are wonderful too.
If I'm ever near Technology Building Station again, I'll definitely return!

The sign just says "Vietnamese Pho" but yes, this is the place!
Honestly, walking in was accidental - just saw a pho place with decent crowd and it turned out amazing!

The restaurant has ample seating - slightly cramped but more spacious than most Taipei eateries.
Everything's clean - no sticky floors or tables.
The basil for self-service is covered before customers arrive - such thoughtful details!

After being seated, staff provide fresh lime slices and pickled vegetables.

Time to check the menu!
They offer many options.

The "Combination Beef" includes rare beef, well-done beef and beef balls, plus tendon, mixed tendon/meat, and wontons.
Noodle choices: pho noodles, egg noodles, mixed noodles, rice vermicelli, glass noodles, and rice noodles.
Can you tell the difference between all these noodle types? Each has unique characteristics worth researching!

Sometimes there are off-menu specials on the wall too.
Currently they offer two types of cold rice noodles for summer.

After ordering, just hand the slip to staff and pay after eating.

Comes with rare beef, well-done beef and a halved beef ball.

The well-done beef uses slightly thick, chewy shank.

The rare beef is thinly sliced so it cooks quickly in hot broth - still pinkish but mostly done.
The texture is wonderfully tender and springy.

The beef ball is flavorful with great bounce and rich beef taste.
I'd buy frozen ones for hotpot if available!

The broth is clear and light
With subtle sweetness - perfect for those preferring mild flavors.

But for stronger tastes, add lime, basil, pickles and chili!

The pho noodles aren't super chewy but very slippery - sometimes you almost forget to chew!

Rare Beef Mixed Noodles (生牛肉粉麵) NT $140

Generous portion of rare beef - very appetizing!
I was curious about "mixed noodles" when ordering but couldn't tell what it was at first.

After picking it up, I realized it's not rice noodles + egg noodles as I assumed, but pho noodles + lo mein!
The texture is fascinating - the crispness of lo mein combined with pho noodles' smooth chewiness creates rich mouthfeel.
Highly recommend trying this!

For this bowl, I just added lime juice and some chilies.
The chilies start mild but get progressively spicier as they steep.
So fragrant!
Perfect for summer - appetizing and refreshing!

The stewed daikon is excellent.
The pho broth has penetrated it completely - juicy with subtle sweetness.
Maybe the broth's sweetness comes from this daikon!

The soy sauce is lightly seasoned - just enough saltiness.
Simple but delicious.

Fried Tofu (蘭花干)  NT$35

Also very popular.

The tofu absorbs broth perfectly - crispy outside, soft inside.
Makes you keep eating nonstop!

Overall, Brother Nam Vietnamese Pho performs excellently - every item is well-executed at reasonable prices.
The dining environment is comfortable too.
I'll definitely recommend this to friends visiting Technology Building Station area - so now I'm recommending it to you too!
